Tech Impressive Collecting 36 NCAA Regional Marks

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's and women's track squads was hitting on all cylinders as the teams racking up a season-high 36 NCAA Regional marks Thursday night at the Linda & Terry Fuller track.
Tori Smith had an impressive day as she shattered the school record in the 100M hurdles. The senior scorched the track with a NCAA Regional time of 13.44. The time breaks the school record by .18 and also sets a new facility record.
The men's 110M hurdlers were impressive as well. Omo Osaghae (13.64), Brandon Tucker (13.91), Jamele Mason (13.98) and Nathan Lowry (14.15) finished first through fourth, respectively, and each ran NCAA Regional marks. It is the first regional mark for both Tucker and Lowry.
The men's 4x100M relay started the running events off with its fastest time of the year. Osaghae, Tucker, Bill Lawhorn and Rashad Hawk won the event with a time of 39.91.
The 400M dash brought in two more regional marks for Tech. Trudeann Clarke ran her season-best in the events placing second with a 53.94. Rodney Mims ran 46.18 for his season-best time in a very competitive heat including three-former Olympians.
Terra Evans ran a wind-aided time of 11.30 to win the 100M. The time still qualifies her for the regional meet and puts her tied for the 10th fastest time in the nation. The Red Raiders qualified three for the regional meet in one heat. Lawhorn (10.38), Hawk (10.50) and Julius Walker (10.53) placed second, third and fourth overall.
The Lady Raiders had three runners run regional time in the 800M. Asia Diaz finished second with a season and personal-best time of 2:06.74. Gladys Kipsang crossed the line in 2:09.09 and Shannon Jackson scored her first NCAA Regional mark with a 2:10.14 to place fifth.
Gilbert Limo squeaked his way into the NCAA Regional meet in the 1500M. He dominated the field with a time of 3:50.55 which betters the NCAA Regional qualifying time by .01. Gladys Kipsang qualified for the Lady Raiders with a time of 4:23.42 placing her second in the women's 1500M
Tech had four student-athletes qualify for the regional meet in the 400M hurdles. Sandra Iwunze (59.31) and Kelsey Lloyd (1:00.06) finished first and second on the women's side, while Mason (51.10) and Zach Plinario (52.33) qualified on the men's side. It is Lloyd's and Plinario's first regional times in the event on the year.
Jonisha Bolware ran a season-best and NCAA Regional time of 23.86 on her way to winning the women's 200M. Markus Henderson added his name to the list with a 21.20 in the men's 200M.
Ozie Okolie won the women's hammer throw with a NCAA Regional toss of 186'-02". The school-record holder's best throw of the season is 203'-03".
D'Andra Carter, Patience Knight and Okolie finished first, second and third, respectively in the women's discus. Carter threw 183'-08" while Knight tossed 165'-11". Okolie threw a season best mark of 158'-00.
Darrell Roddick and Waylon Randolph placed first and second with NCAA Regional marks. Roddick jumped 25'-2" and Randolph's mark was a 24'-3".
Amanda Alley and Sage Lasater both cleared a NCAA Regional height of 12'-7.50" placing in second and third respectively. Tech signee Shade Weygandt won the event clearing 13'-6.25". Brian Porter continues to improve as he cleared a NCAA Regional mark of 17'-00.75 to win the men's pole vault.
Knight and Carter placed first and second in the women's shot put with NCAA Regional marks of 52'-5.25" and 46'-11", respectively.
Harrison Benjamin was two inches short of breaking his school record in the shot put. He settled for winning the event with a mark of 60'-1". Tyler Menges placed second with a mark of 54'-1.25".
The men's 4x400M relay ran extremely well as Lamont Adams, Lawhorn, Tim Foster and Washington ran a NCAA Regional time of 3:07.03 to place second.
Texas Tech's women 4x400M relay of Diaz, Kearci Jobe, Devin Bailey and Brintney Green won the event with a 3:55.07.
Kaci Westervelt won the women's 3000M steeple chase in a time of 11:33.24 beating the field by over 20 seconds. Logan Culotta made it two for two as he won the men's 3K steeple chase with a 9:40.31.
Paden Behrens won the javelin throw with a throw of 172'-07".
Janell Appelhans won the women's triple jump with a season-best of 19'-00.50". Veronica DiLullo was third with a mark of 18'-6.50".
DiLullo turned around and won the women's triple with a jump of 38'-8.25". Bernard Hammonds was second on the men's side with a mark of 46'-8.75".
Amanda Dowdy and Lloyd placed first and second in the women's high jump as both cleared 5'-7".
