Lady Raiders Fall 6-1 on the Road to Oklahoma

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis squad dropped its third-straight road match as it fell to Oklahoma 6-1.
The Lady Raiders (9-12, 4-6) dropped the doubles point to start the match. Ana-Maria Constantinescu and Kristina Radan defeated Kerryn Potgieter and Stefanie Peana 8-1. Oklahoma clinched the point with as No. 1 position duo Tara Eckel and Marie-Pier Huet beat Tech's No. 58 duo Samantha van der Drift and Kelsy Garland 8-3.
Tech took the final double match at the No. 3 position. Simone Templeton and Natalie Leitch beat Peta Maree Lancaster and Maria Kalashnikova 8-5.
The Lady Raiders couldn't keep up in the singles matches as Oklahoma took the first three singles matches. Templeton dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Huet to give Oklahoma a 2-0 advantage. Kalashnikova beat Garland in the No. 2 position 6-3, 6-0 and then the Sooners clinched the match as No. 1 Constantinescu won 6-4, 6-1 over van der Drift.
Leitch continued her strong play in singles play as she pushed her record to 7-3 in conference by beating Radan 6-1, 6-2. Potgieter was defeated by Eckel 6-2, 6-3 and Oklahoma's Lancaster took the final point with a 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (5) decision over Peana.
The Lady Raiders play its final Big 12 match against Nebraska in Normal, Okla., on Wed., April 22nd.
