LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 10 Missouri softball team defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 12-0 (5), Saturday afternoon at Rocky Johnson Field. The Tigers pounded out 15 hits, compared to just three for Tech. Both teams will complete the series tomorrow, which is Senior Day for Texas Tech. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT.
Missouri (39-5/9-2) scored one run in the second, seven in the third, and four in the fourth inning, to put the game out of reach as Tech (14-35/2-11) was unable to plate a runner. The Tigers had five different players double on the day, while Marla Schweisberger hit a solo home run. Emily Bledsoe had a double on the day for Tech, while Leah Legler and Elizabeth Eimen had the other two hits on the day for the Red Raiders. Alex Watkins and Karli Merlich shared the duties from the circle for Tech giving up six runs each, while Watkins was charged with the loss falling to 3-13 on the season.
Texas Tech and Missouri will complete the series tomorrow at 12 p.m. CT. Seniors Elizabeth Eimen, Megan Shupp, and Alex Watkins will be honored in a ceremony before the game as tomorrow is Senior Day, and the last home game for the Red Raiders in 2009.
