LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech hosts Stanford at the United Spirit Arena in the final Red Raider home game in 2009 on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Texas Tech holds down the 23rd spot in the latest Associated Press ranking after their narrow loss on the road to Wichita State on Saturday, 85-83.
Mark Finkner will call the courtside action along with analyst Corky Oglesby on the Texas Tech Sports Network flagship station Double T 104.3.
The Red Raiders and the Cardinal will be meeting for the fourth time since the series began on December 3, 2006. Stanford leads the series 3-0.
Tomorrow's game will be the first meeting of the Red Raiders and the Cardinal at the United Spirit Arena.
Last season, the Red Raiders lost at Stanford on December 28, 111-66. Mike Singletary led the Red Raiders with 13 points while Anthony Goods posted 21 points for the Cardinal.
This season, Stanford (5-5) is averaging 73.6 points per game and holding their opponents to 68.1 points per game. Stanford has wins against Cal Poly, Florida A&M, vs. Virginia, Portland State, and UC Davis. The Cardinal losses were at San Diego, Oral Roberts, vs. No. 5 Kentucky in overtime, Oklahoma State, and most recently at Northwestern.
The Cardinal return six players from last year's game with the Red Raiders. The top five scorers for Stanford are Landry Fields (23.0), Jeremy Green (15.5), Drew Shiller (8.8), Jarrett Mann (8.0), and Jack Trotter (6.5).
In their last outing, Texas Tech lost their first game of the season at Wichita State on Saturday. The Shockers held a 35-21 lead at halftime. The Red Raiders stormed back in the second half to score 62 points. It was the most points in a half for Texas Tech since pouring in 90 points against East Central University on November 20, 2008.
After making just eight of thirty-one attempts in the first half, Texas Tech canned twenty-one of thirty attempts in the second half, including seven of their ten three-point attempts.
John Roberson led Texas Tech in scoring with 24 points. Nick Okorie scored 16 points, Mike Singletary dropped in 13 points, David Tairu had 11 points, and D'walyn Roberts added 10 points.
The Red Raiders travel to New Mexico for their next game. The December 29 game begins at 8 PM (Central) and will be televised on CBS College Sports Network.
Texas Tech is back in action at the United Spirit Arena on New Year's Day against McNeese State and again on January 3 against UTEP.
