LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's and women's basketball teams, along with head coaches Pat Knight and Kristy Curry, hosted five Toys for Tots drives during the months of November and December.
Fans who brought a new unwrapped toy received one free general admission ticket.
Through the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, Texas Tech fans donated over 250 toys to needy children throughout the Lubbock area this holiday season.
"We want to say thank you to all the Texas Tech basketball fans who joined us in giving back to the community of Lubbock," said Curry. "Toys for Tots is a great organization and we are proud to be able to team up to make this holiday special for local children."
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivated them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
