LUBBOCK, Texas - Jordan Barncastle scored a career-high 17 points to lead Texas Tech to a 69-38 victory over San Francisco in the night cap of the Basketball Travelers Tip-Off Tourney. Prairie View A&M beat Texas-Arlington in the first game, 65-58.
The game was Tech's from the get go as the Lady Raiders held USF to just two points for the first 11 minutes of the contest. Tech's largest lead of the first half was 21 at 35-14 as Barncastle hit a pair of free throws with 1:25 to go.
Tech led at the break, 35-17.
The second half was no different for the Lady Raiders, going up by as many as 35 points the last 20 minutes. With 1:36 to go in the game, Barncastle once again hit two free throws to give Tech its biggest advantage of the game at 69-34. Barncastle was a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.
Joining Barncastle in double-figure scoring were Jordan Murphree with 15 points and Tilmila Martin with 10. Barncastle also had a game-high seven rebounds, while Monique Smalls led all players with five assists and three steals.
Tech held all USF players to under 10 points as its top scorer, Ashley Boggs, had six points to lead the Dons.
For the game, the Lady Raiders shot 44.3 percent from the field, connecting on 27-of-61 shots, while USF shot 31.7 percent (15-48). Tech outrebounded the Dons 38-35.
The Basketball Travelers Tip-Off Tourney resumes on Saturday as Prairie View A&M takes on USF at 6 p.m., followed by Tech and UTA at approximately 8 p.m.
