Texas Tech Hosts Samford

Lubbock, Texas - After returning from their first road game of the season, Texas Tech (6-0) hosts Samford (1-4) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the United Spirit Arena.
Texas Tech and Samford will be meeting for the second time. Their initial meeting was on January 4, 1978 when the Gerald Myers coached team won in Lubbock, 88-58.
On November 24, the Red Raiders claimed a 63-61 win in Nacogdoches over the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin. The Texas Tech victory was their first road win since stopping the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder on February 20, 2008.
The Red Raiders are off to a 6-0 start for the first time since the 1995-1996 season when they were members of the Southwest Conference.
After six games, Mike Singletary leads the Red Raiders with 14.0 points per game. Darko Cohadarevic, D'wayln Roberts, David Tairu, and John Roberson are each averaging at least 10 points per game.
Samford opened their season at the 2009 Hispanic College Funds Classic in Kent, Ohio. The Bulldogs from Birmingham, Alabama, lost to Kent State in the opener, 69-66. The Bulldogs then dropped their next two games in Kent. They lost to Wisconsin-Green Bay (70-68) and to UAB (55-52). On November 20, Samford lost at Texas A&M (68-49) before gaining their first win of the season (68-52) over McNeese State.
After their game against Samford, the Red Raiders face the Pac-10's No. 14 Washington Huskies on Thursday, December 3. The game will begin at 6 PM at the United Spirit Arena.
On December 8, Texas Tech plays at TCU. After the break for final exams, the Raiders will be back in action at Wichita State on December 19 and at home against Stanford on December 22.
