LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech basketball secured its second win of the season by outlasting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 66-59 Saturday night at the United Spirit Arena.
Texas Tech (2-0) went to the locker room at the half down by four points but battled back to take control of the game. Darko Cohadarevic started the second half momentum with a jumper at 19:48 followed by John Roberson hitting a three-pointer to get the crowd excited.
In the first half, A&M Corpus Christi (1-1) had its largest lead of the game of 10 points at 10:39. Cohadarevic led the Red Raiders with 8 points, and Demond Watt led the Islanders with 12 points at the half.
"To win at the level you have to defend," Red Raider head coach Pat Knight said. "We weren't aggressive the first half. We weren't in the zone. I give them credit because they bounced back. We played a great game and people will see more of that in the spring."
Roberson led the game with 15 points, while Mike Singletary was a close second with 14 points. Leading the Islanders was Watt with 19 points. Cohadarevic led the Red Raiders with seven rebounds.
Texas Tech out shot Corpus Christi 46.3 percent to 39.7 percent.
The Red Raiders are back in action in the Duel in the Desert tournament against Oregon State Sunday at 3 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena.
