
Tech Cross Country Lands 10 on Academic All-Big 12

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech cross country squads landed 10 student-athletes on the 2008 Academic All-Big 12 Cross country teams with seven earning first-team distinction.
Two women and four men were named to the first team. Michelle Guzman (exercise and sports science) and Katherine Priebe (mechanical engineering), David Boston (exercise and sports science), Logan Culotta (biology), Cory Higgins (civil engineering), Jeremy Kight (civil engineering) and Gilbert Limo (finance) all earned first team honors.
Michelle Edman (exercise and sports science), Kaci Westervelt (HDFS) and Zack Dawson (chemical engineering) all garnered second team honors.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible. Tech will run at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships held at Columbia, MO. this Saturday.
