Texas Tech on the road against Lamar

Lubbock, TX - The Red Raiders (7-1) travel to Beaumont, Texas for Saturday's game against the Lamar Cardinals (6-3). Tip-off is at 7 PM. The game is not televised.
Mark Finkner will call Saturday's courtside action against the Cardinals along with analyst Corky Oglesby on the Texas Tech Sports Network local station KKAM-AM 1340.
Texas Tech and Lamar are meeting for the third time since the 1979-1980 season and the Red Raiders are making their first trip to Beaumont. Last season, the Raiders won on New Year's Day by two points, 79-77, and on December 13, 1979, Texas Tech won 83-68.
The Red Raiders return to the court for the first time since their three-point win over the Wichita State Shockers, 72-69, on December 3. Alan Voskuil and John Roberson each scored 20 points for the Raiders. Teammate Mike Singletary added 13 points, including the game winning shot with four seconds remaining in the game.
Texas Tech has five players averaging double figures for the season. John Roberson tops the group with 15.0 points per game. Alan Voskuil follows with 14.9 points per game. Mike Singletary comes off the bench to average 11.9 points each game. Nick Okorie is next with 11.8 points per game and Trevor completes the group with 10.1 points per game.
The Cardinals have won each of their three home games this season. They recently returned from a four-game road trip to Kentucky. They lost, 103-61, in Lexington to Kentucky on December 3, before playing three games in the Marques Maybin Classic in Louisville. On December 6, Lamar topped Ohio University in the opening round, 76-67. The Cardinals were edged by Indiana State, 68-66 on December 7, and then lost to Louisville on December 8, 78-56.
Lamar's Kenny Dawkins leads his team with 15.7 points per game. He's joined by Jay Brown at 13.9 ppg, Brandon McThay at 12.7 ppg, and Tristan Worrell at 10.3 ppg.
The Red Raiders are back on the road against UTEP on Wednesday, December 17 before returning home to host New Mexico at the United Spirit Arena on Saturday, December 20.
