LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's tennis players Raony Carvalho and Christian Rojmar wrapped the ITA National Indoor Championships Saturday with a win over the No. 10-ranked doubles team of Nathan Byrnes and Oleksandr Nedovyseov from Oklahoma State.
After falling in the first two days of action, Carvalho and Rojmar rebounded to take an 8-6 decision over Cowboys' top doubles squad. Nedovyseov is the No. 1 singles player in the nation in the preseason ITA rankings.
"To me, this was a very successful tournament for the guys because they had one very big win," Tech head coach Tim Siegel said. "Oklahoma's State's team is very good, and I think they'll be one of the top 10 teams in the country this spring."
The tournament ends Tech's fall schedule. The Red Raiders begin the 2009 season Jan. 30 in Tulsa, Okla., against LSU.
