Lady Raider fans:
We are having a great time at the Frenchman's Reef and Morningstar Marriott Resort in beautiful St. Thomas. Our trip started off yesterday when we departed from the Lubbock airport with a great group of supporters that were making the trip with us. From Lubbock we flew to Waco where we teamed up on the charter flight to travel with the Baylor Lady Bears and their fans. There was plenty of studying, talking and getting to know each other and of course plenty of fun. After a lengthy four hours of flying, we arrived at our destination. We were all pretty tired from the long day of traveling so lights were out pretty quick.
This morning started off early with a team breakfast at the hotel. After a great buffet we were off on a Catamaran and snorkel tour with the team and staff. I can't tell you how excited everyone was, not only because this was the first time most of us had been snorkeling, but also because the weather was warm and the scenery was beautiful. The Catamaran took us out to a smaller island about fifteen minutes away from our hotel. We got a quick lesson on snorkeling and then it was time for the real fun to begin. We got to see an underwater shipwreck, numerous types of fish, and also a few creatures that we weren't able to identify. After about an hour of snorkeling, we headed back to our hotel where we grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed off to practice.
After a great practice it was time to get ready for a St. Thomas Skyride welcome party. This party was hosted by the staff in charge of the tournament. We were entertained by tropical parrots that put on a fun show for us as dinner was being prepared. There was an opportunity for us to see the beautiful skylights of St. Thomas at night. Today has truly been an amazing Caribbean experience!
Before I say goodnight I want to send a hello to my mom and family back in New York. I know it's pretty snowy there so I'll soak up the sun for you guys down here. Many of you have been asking about my mom and how she is doing with her breast cancer treatments. She finished her fourth treatment a few weeks ago and successfully got through another surgery this past Monday. She is resting and being taken care of by my family in Honeoye Falls. I want to personally say thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers during this time as it means so much to us.
That is all for tonight, I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving Holiday. Tomorrow you will get a great report from my teammate, Tiny Henderson. Thank you again for all of your support of our team.
