Lady Raiders Slip Past Lamar

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's basketball improved to 3-0 on the short season with a 59-50 win over Lamar (1-1) tonight at the United Spirit Arena.
The Lady Raiders shot just 35 percent from the field, hitting only 35-of-60 shot attempts. Tech held only a six-point lead, 31-25, at the end of the first period, which saw four lead changes and five ties.
In the second half, it took over two and half minutes before the first bucket was scored - a jumper by Tech's Jordan Barncastle. The Lady Raiders got their biggest lead of the game at 41-29 on a three-pointer by Keisha Walker. Lamar got within three points with eight minutes remaining in the contest before Tech went on a 13-5 run to put the score at 56-45 with just under three minutes to go.
Barncastle led Tech with her second-straight double-double as she mirrored her last game of 14 points and 13 rebounds. She also dished out a career-high four assists. Dominic Seals and Tilmila Martin finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Seals had her first double-double of the season as she added 10 boards.
Tech outrebounded the Lady Cardinals 42-to-38.
Nikki Williams scored a game-high 18 points for Lamar.
