LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's tennis coach Tim Siegel announced Monday that Andre Stabile has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Red Raiders beginning with the 2009-10 season.
Stabile hails from Ribeiras Preto, Brazil, where he was among the top 15 players in the country in his age group. He has been ranked as high as No. 981 in the world, while also holding a victory over Thiago Alves, who is ranked No. 114 in the world.
"We're very excited to add Andre to our team for next year," Siegel said. "We think he is someone who will contribute right away in both singles and doubles. He is one of the most talented players we have signed over the past few years, and we are fortunate to have someone come to Texas Tech with so much talent and experience."
Stabile will be Tech's only signee for the fall signing period. The Red Raiders begin the 2009 season Jan. 30 in Tulsa, Okla., against LSU.
