Q&A with Emily and Stephanie
What is the main difference between your hometown and Lubbock?
Emily: Lubbock is the biggest town around for about two hours. My hometown is very small but it's within 20 minutes of driving to a lot of places.
Stephanie: There are more things to do in my hometown since it is so close to Houston.
Being here a couple of weeks already, what are some things you enjoy about Lubbock?
Emily: The roads are pretty easy to pick up on. I only got lost once before I could find my way around!
Stephanie: I love the cowboys here. Ha-ha. I also enjoy that the people are very polite. I haven't really had the chance to go out and see all that Lubbock has to offer.
Why did you choose to come to Texas Tech?
Emily: It had a great school atmosphere, the campus was absolutely gorgeous, and I wanted to play softball here.
Stephanie: I chose to come to Texas Tech because I felt so comfortable the first time I ever came here and from the start I knew it was where I needed to be. I couldn't ask for a better coaching staff and team. We all have gotten to know each other so well and the upperclassmen made us feel right at home.
What are you most looking forward to in the upcoming season?
Emily: I'm looking forward to the games against Baylor and A&M the most I think.
Stephanie: I can't wait to play in the first conference game. I believe we are going to have a great team and really turn some heads this season.
What are some personal goals you have set for this season?
Emily: Well, if I told you all of them, then you would be reading forever but some of my main goals are to start as a freshman and to help the team go further than they've ever been. We've got a great group of girls and I am really excited to see what this season has in store for us.
Stephanie: I would love to go to Oklahoma City and win a National Championship...I know there would be no greater feeling and all this hard work would definitely pay off.
How do you feel about your new teammates?
Emily: They've been nothing but helpful and welcoming toward me since I've been here. I couldn't have asked for anything better. They've been true blessings for me these first couple of weeks.
Stephanie: I feel very comfortable around them. I feel I can go to them with any problem I may have and knowing that they will be there for me the best they can means so much.
What's your favorite part about being a Red Raider?
Emily: My favorite part of being a Red Raider so far is being able to be a part of something so big.
Stephanie: The colors are intimidating!
