FORT WORTH, Texas - Following a two game win streak, the Texas Tech soccer team could not keep the momentum going falling to TCU, 2-1, Friday in Fort Worth.
The Horned Frogs gained an early advantage on a Jackie Torda goal in the 30th minute. Tech went into halftime in a 1-0 deficit. It was Torda's third goal on the season.
TCU quickly increased its lead to 2-0 after the break when Michelle Nguyen connected a free kick off a Tech wall into the goal. According to Tech head coach Tom Stone, Red Raider goalkeeper Tina Rincon had no chance on the ball after the deflection.
In the 66th minute, sophomore Brittney Harrison pulled the Red Raiders closer with her first goal of the season.
Statistically, the Red Raiders out-shot the Horned Frogs 19-15 and out-numbered TCU in corner kicks, seven to three.
"In the statistical realm, we dominated in every category except goals," Stone said. "There are not any moral victories here, however...we want to win."
Tech returns to the field Sunday at 1 p.m. against SMU in Dallas. The Red Raiders have never defeated SMU in program history, losing all five meetings.
