
Red Raiders Ranked in Top 10 Preseason Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its selections for the 2007 ITA/Fila preseason men's singles and doubles rankings. Texas Tech had three players ranked, including Tech's top duo Christian Rojmar and Bojan Szumanski at No. 10.
Rojmar and Szumanski ended last season ranked No.33 with an overall record of 9-9, 3-3 in conference play. The two competed at the 2007 NCAA Doubles Championships in Athens, Ga., falling in the first round to Miami's then-ranked No. 5 duo of Cohen and D'Agord, 7-6, 6-1.
In singles, Szumanski moved up from his season-end ranking of 42 to No. 22. This is the second consecutive year he falls in the top 25 of the preseason polls, after being ranked 12 last year. Playing No. 1 for the Red Raiders, he advanced to the second round of the 2007 NCAA Singles Championships, the first time in school history for this event, before losing to LSU's No. 24 Ken Skupski.
Also receiving preseason recognition for the second year is junior Sinisa Markovic. No. 93 Markovic had a successful sophomore campaign going 6-0 in the Big 12 playing at the No. 3 spot for Tech. He ended last season with a duals record of 16-4, 26-9 overall.
