LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech assistant men's golf coach Marty McCauley is one of four finalists for the Assistant Coach Liaison to the National Advisory Board for the Golf Coaches Association of America. The board is made up of five Division I Head Coaches, a Division II representative, a Division III representative, and a NAIA representative.
McCauley, a Wichita State graduate, helped lead Tech to the 2007 NCAA Championships, the program's third appearance in the past six years. McCauley's impact was witnessed in fielding one of Tech's strongest lineups in school history. Additionally, his addition has been a valuable for head coach Greg Sands in the area of recruiting as the Red Raiders have extended their reach across the world to bring in top talent.
The three other assistant coaches joining McMauley on the ballot include: Chris Gougenheim of Texas A&M, Don Hill of North Carolina and John Knauer of Arizona.
The winner which is voted on by every assistant coach in the country in all divisions will be announced in mid-September.
