LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech fans wasted little time booking their trip to Jacksonville through National Travel Systems and the Red Raider Club. That effort has forced NTS and the RRC to put together a second booking as part of the Exclusive Fan Travel Package for the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl. Texas Tech will face Virginia on Jan. 1 in Jacksonville, Fla.
"The response has been overwhelming and we want to make sure as many Red Raider fans get to experience the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl," said Amy McBride, assistant athletic director for the Red Raider Club. "In order to do so, we have already started the process of filling a second plane. We are almost at the halfway point of filling the second booking; therefore, we want to make sure all fans have the opportunity to attend. Fans need to call our travel partner as soon as possible. Seats are available, but they are going fast!
"Keep in mind the flight is non-stop from Lubbock to Jacksonville, while commercial travel could include up to three to four stops."
The package includes two nights (Dec. 30-Jan. 1) accommodations at the Hyatt Regency, which is located on the Jacksonville Landing and is within walking distance of the Gator Bowl. Round trip air travel via charter and airport transportation in Jacksonville is included as is transportation to and from the game. Tickets to the game are also included* as is The Patch, the official jersey patch of the team participants which allows bearers a host of local benefits, including free entrance in the Gator Bowl Tailgate Party. Also included are tickets to the Dec. 31 Gator Bowl Parade.
Cost for the charter is based on occupancy: Single ($1,530), Double ($1,275 per person), Triple ($1,205 per person) and Quad ($1,170 per person). All rates include taxes and fees.
Additionally, NTS is offering a rate of $775 that covers air travel only. With the air only package, accommodations and game tickets will be the responsibility of the traveler.
To register for the charter, contact National Travel Systems at (806) 794-3135 or (888) 603-8747.
*Note: If a fan has already placed a ticket order, tickets can be deducted from travel package.
