LUBBOCK, Texas - Playing in their first tournament of the 2007-08 season, Texas Tech's Christian Rojmar and Bojan Szumanski fell in the semi-finals of the Polo/Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Invite. Hosted by the University of Tulsa, the pair sit 3-1 after facing four top-50 ITA ranked opponents.
Beginning with a field of 32 of the top collegiate doubles teams in the country, No. 10-ranked Rojmar and Szumanski worked their way through the main draw by defeating Virginia's No. 24 team, 8-6, Ohio State's No. 7 duo, 8-4, and Tulsa's No. 50 pair, 9-7. With four teams remaining, Tech next faced No. 20 Jonas Berg and Erling Tveit from Mississippi.
Unlike the first series of pro-set matches, the two teams faced-off playing the best of three sets. The Rebels came out strong in the first set moving in for the quick 6-2 win. The second set was quite closer as the lead volleyed back and forth. The Red Raiders were unable to push the match to a third set as they fell in the tie-breaker 7-2.
By advancing to the semi-finals of the ITA All-American, Szumanski and Rojmar automatically receive a bid into the main draw of the 2007 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November.
