
Texas Tech Will Compete in ITA All-American Tournament

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech will be represented at the 2006 Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Tennis Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla. The pre-qualifying rounds are Sept. 30-Oct. 1, with qualifying rounds held Oct. 2-4. The main draw singles round will be held Thurs., Oct. 5.
Dimitrio Martinez plays in Mondays qualifying round while Adrian Prpic and Bojan Szumanski play in the qualifying doubles round on Tuesday.
Martinez dropped his first match at the Baylor Invite to No, 7 Arnau Brugues from Tulsa. Prpic and Szumanski participated in the Van Hubbard $50,000 Lubbock Challenger and defeated Scoville Jenkins and Vahid Merzaden 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, but lost to Amer Delic and Robert Kendric, two of the top players in the nation. Szumanski also competed in singles, but lost in the first round.
Prpic and Szumanski are ranked No. 38 and No. 87, respectively, in the preseason ITA/FILA national rankings and also will be participating in the singles competition at the ITA All-American.
