Tech Tied for First Before Play Suspended

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Texas Tech Red Raider squad was in a tie for first after 18 holes of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, but struggled beyond that before play was suspended. Tech was through most holes of the second round on the University of New Mexico Championship Course when the action was cancelled due to darkness. The team carded a first round of 286 and was in a tie with host New Mexico.
After 18 holes, three Red Raiders were listed in the top 10, with senior Oscar Floren pacing the team with a 3-under 69 and in a tie for second. Santiago Rivas shot a 71 (-1) to tie for tenth, while Will Griffin turned in an even-par 72 to stand in a tie for 14th. Garrett Merrell was tied for 34th with a first-round score of 74. Jake Younan-Wise shot a 9-over 81 through 18 holes.
