Younan-Wise in Third After One Round

ROCKY FACE, Ga. - Jake Younan-Wise leads all Red Raiders at the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic in Rocky Face, Ga., with a 5-under 67. He is currently in third place, two shots back from the leader. The Kingscliff, Australia, native tied his career-low round that he previously set at the International Collegiate earlier this month. Younan-Wise was able to tally five birdies, along with one eagle.
The Texas Tech squad is currently in a tie for 14th after turning in a 297 for the day. The Red Raiders are seven shots behind a top-10 placing. Preseason No. 15 Alabama leads all schools after firing a 12-under 276, setting a new first-round record for the Carpet Capital.
In his first competition of the fall, Santiago Rivas is tied for 43rd with an opening round of 74. Freshman Will Griffin fired a 5-over 77 and sits in a tie for 67th. Oscar Floren, who finished tied for eighth at the International Collegiate, struggled on the front nine, shooting five bogeys. Floren finished with a 7-over 79 and is currently tied for 83rd. Jeremy Martin had a first-round of 84, 12-over-par.
