COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Texas Tech softball team could not scratch out a victory in its finale regular season game on the season on Sunday, falling to Missouri by a score of 2-1 at University Field in Columbia, Mo.
With the win, Missouri improves its overall record this season to an even 23-23 and its Big 12 mark to 7-9, while the Red Raiders fall to 19-34 and 4-13 in conference play.
The Tigers got on the board first in the contest, plating a run in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI double by centerfielder Micaela Minner off Tech starter Erin Crawford.
Sophomore catcher Robyn Wike helped Tech tie the game at on run apiece in the top of the second inning as she followed a two-out double by second baseman Jennifer Bowers with a run-scoring single through the right side of the infield.
In the bottom of the fifth, it was Minner who again gave Missouri the lead as she drove in her second run of the game on a sharp two-out single to right field.
Crawford (11-17) gave Tech a chance to win in the contest, allowing only the two runs while scattering seven hits in her 13th complete game effort of the year.
The Red Raider softball team will next be in action May 8-14 when it travels to Oklahoma City, Okla., to take part in the 2006 Big 12 Softball Championship.
