
No. 42 Men's Tennis Hosts Big 12 Rivals

Lubbock, Texas - No. 42 Texas Tech men's tennis returns to the friendly confines of McLeod Tennis Center to host intrastate rivals No. 18 Texas A&M, Thurs., April 13, at 6:30 p.m. and No. 3 Texas, Sun. April 16, at 1 p.m. The Red Raiders are currently sitting at 12-7 and 1-2 in conference.
The Red and Black have split their last six matches. They found their first conference win against No. 46 Oklahoma, 4-3, in Norman. The squad is led by No. 86 Adrian Prpic at No. 1 singles. Prpic has posted a singles record of 12-11. Freshman Sinisa Markovic has stepped up at the No. 4 spot, compiling a singles record of 12-5 and 2-1 in Big 12 play.
The No. 18 Texas A&M Aggies are 12-7 and 2-2 in Big 12 play. They have won six of their last nine matches and dropped two of their last three conference matches, all on the road. The Maroon and White are led by No. 8 Jerry Makowski, who has earned a singles record of 18-7. In doubles play, Brian Wooten and Brett Joelson, seated at No. 58 in the current ITA poll, have combined for a doubles record of 16-12. The Aggies lead the series with Tech, 34-5.
The No. 3 Texas Longhorns are sitting at 16-1 and 4-0 in Big 12 play. Their only loss came at the hands of No. 6 Duke, 5-2. They are currently riding a 14-match win streak. The Orange and White are led by No. 7 Travis Helgeson, who has a singles record of 24-8. Helgeson and Michael Venus, ranked No. 38 in the ITA poll, have combined for a doubles record of 13-10. Texas leads the series with the Red Raiders, 29-3.
Admission to the matches is free for all fans and fajitas and pizza will be provided Thursday and Sunday.
