Lubbock, Texas - No. 65 Texas Tech women's tennis found its' fourth Big 12 victory in Ames, Iowa, on Saturday, at the hand of the Iowa State Cyclones. The Lady Raiders took the match win with a score of 5-2. The squad is now sitting at 11-4 overall and 4-1 in Big 12 action.
Tech won the doubles point with wins by Tara Browning and Lakann Wagley at No. 1, Janet Durham and Cigdem Duru at No. 2 and Erin Hunter and Katja Kovacic at No. 3.
In singles play, Browning defeated Jill Palen, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, playing at No. 1. Duru clinched the match victory when she edged Kara Hickey, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3, Durham fell to Danielle Uscinski, 6-3, 7-5. Wagley was victorious at No 4, taking a 6-4, 6-3 win from Elizabeth Chermel. At No. 5, Caitlin Loprinzi beat Samantha van der Drift, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. Kovacic cruised past Eve Soriano at No. 6, 6-2, 6-0.
The Lady Raiders will face the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Sun., March 26, at 10 a.m.
