Texas Tech (10-3) faces UNLV (11-2) on Thursday at the United Spirit Arena in an 8 PM ESPN telecast with Dick Vitale and Dan Shulman. Doris Burke and Andy Katz will be the sideline reporters.
The Raiders and the Runnin' Rebels are meeting for the fourth time since the series began on December 6, 1972. Texas Tech holds a 2-1 margin with each team gaining wins on their home courts. Last season, UNLV topped the Red Raiders in Las Vegas, 84-73.
Texas Tech held a six-point halftime lead against Bucknell in their last game and outscored the Bison by the same amount in the second half for the 72-60 win. Alan Voskuil started his first game of the season against the Bison and contributed fifteen points in the afternoon win.
Jarrius Jackson and Martin Zeno each scored 18 points for the Red Raiders and Darryl Dora was the fourth Tech player to register double figures with 14 points.
The Texas Tech-Bucknell crowd of 11,561 (turnstile) was the largest gathering for a non-conference game since the United Spirit Arena opening game on November 19, 1999.
For each game this season, Steve Dale will call the courtside action along with Ted Chidester as analyst on the Texas Tech Sports Network (KKAM 1340 AM), the flagship station for the Red Raiders.
The Red Raiders play their next three games at home (UNLV, New Mexico, and Oklahoma) and have created a special ticket promotion for the holiday season. For $8.80, the purchaser receives one General Admission ticket to EACH of the next three home games in the upper level. For $8.80 in the next option, the purchaser receives one General Admission ticket to One of the next three home games in the lower level in Sections 118-220, Rows 14-30.
New Mexico comes to the United Spirit Arena on New Year's Day for an 11 AM tip-off. The first conference game of the 2006-2007 season for the Raiders will be on January 6 against Oklahoma at 12:30 PM.
