LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech assistant coach Dana Holgorsen was named offensive coordinator Thursday by head coach Mike Leach, after serving in a co-offensive coordinator capacity with Sonny Dykes the last two seasons. Dykes was named offensive coordinator at Arizona earlier this month.
Holgorsen, in his seventh season with Leach as the inside receivers coach, is the program's offensive eye-in-the-sky on game days, calling offensive plays and communicating with Leach from the coaches booth. Under his guidance, the Red Raider offense has consistently been one of the nation's most productive, ranking among the top 10 in passing and total offense.
Leach and the Red Raiders wrap up bowl preparations in Lubbock on Friday with a brief workout at 10 a.m. The team will travel to Phoenix, Ariz., for the Insight Bowl on Sunday. Kick-off against Minnesota is Fri., Dec. 29, at 7:05 p.m. CT.
