Lady Raiders Fall to Hawai'i

HONOLULU - The Texas Tech women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season as it fell to Hawai'i, 57-54, in its opening-round game of the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic.
The Lady Raiders (3-1) had a poor night of shooting as they shot only 27.7 percent from the field. Tech hit just 18 of 65 shot attempts in the game.
Tech was down by many as 14 points in the second half at 42-28 before going on a 13-0 run to cut the lead to one at 42-41 with 10 minutes to go in the game. Hawai'i (2-1) then scored six-straight points to take a 48-41 lead with eight minutes remaining. Tech got within one two more times with the last time coming with 2:34 left in the contest.
Tech's last lead came in the first half at the 16-minute mark, 6-5.
The Lady Raiders were down by eight, 31-23, at the half.
Freshman Jordan Murphree led all Tech scorers with 13 points. Senior Alesha Robertson finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds in her third-straight double-double. Junior Erin Myrick had her second-consecutive double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Tiny Henderson added 11 points.
The Lady Raiders outrebounded the Rainbow Wahine 46 to 42.
Tech will face Denver in its second game of the Wahine Classic on Sat., Nov. 25, at 3:10 p.m. CST.
