Aloha!
Well, today was the first day we had a game so it was pretty much our usual game day routine.
We got up and got dressed for shoot around. Then we all went and ate some breakfast as a team in one of the rooms. Before we left for the gym, Darrice, Teddy, Tiny and me all decided to go for a walk. We walked around the resort and went to see the flamingos and the penguins. There are several kinds of animals around our resort such as the flamingos, penguins, parrots and fish, just to name a few.
From there we headed to the campus for shoot-around. We couldn't practice in the main gym because tournament games had already started. They put us in their practice gym, which was a "hot box".
After shoot around, Darrice, who is my roommate on this trip, and me just hung out in our room before we went to our pre-game meal. Our room has an ocean view, so it's nice just to leave the balcony door open while we are in there and enjoy the view.
We had our pre-game meal at the Rainbow Lanai restaurant, which was an open-aired restaurant. While we were eating, we made the mistake of feeding the birds that kept flying in the restaurant because then they just kept coming back for more. Once we started eating they kept bothering us even more. Chesley (Dabbs) wasn't particularly fond of this as one flew directly her head and she screamed.
After we ate, we are all full so most of us went back to our room to take a nap before the game.
We played a hard game against Hawai'i, but just came up on the short end. We look to get back on the winning track against Denver tomorrow (Saturday).
After the game, we went as a team to eat at Benihana's, a Japanese steakhouse, and then watched scout film of our next opponent.
I am having a blast on my first trip to Hawai'i. Thanks to all the fans who made the trip with us and thanks to everyone back in Lubbock who are also cheering us on.
