
All-Big 12 Academic Football Team Announced

LUBBOCK, Texas - Eleven Red Raiders were named to the 2006 Academic All-Big 12 Football Team with eight of the 11 earning first-team honors, the Big 12 Conference announced Tuesday.
Former offensive lineman Matt Grisell (English), quarterback Graham Harrell (history), nose tackle Chris Hudler (sports management), linebacker Brock Stratton (restaurant, hotel management), kicker Keith Toogood (business management), kicker Alex Trlica (finance and accounting), receiver Grant Walker (business management) and receiver Todd Walker (pre-medicine) were all named to the first team after posting grade point averages above the required 3.2.
Safety Daniel Charbonnet (communications), linebacker Chad Hill (general business) and cornerback Antonio Huffman (sociology) picked up second team honors for maintaining grade point averages between 3.0 and 3.19.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 grade point average or higher eigher cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
