Texas Tech head softball coach Teresa Wilson announced another signing to complete the freshman class of 2007. Catcher Jen Lee will join Texas Tech in the fall of 2007.
The 5-9 catcher from McNeil High School in Round Rock, Texas (Austin area), has been a two-time, first-team all-district performer as a prep and last year earned first-team all county accolades.
"I have enjoyed getting to know Jen and am excited about the potential of working with her. As a former pitcher, I appreciate a young catcher who loves talking the game with me," Wilson said. "She and I are going to spend a great deal of time figuring out the best way to set up hitters. Half the fun of a pitcher's success is in the planning for how to approach a hitter and I feel very confident that with a thinker like Jen, she and I are going to really enjoy those discussions!"
Lee rounds out a freshman class that added Tye Coats (pitcher) and Lauren Preston (infielder) earlier in the signing period. All hail from Texas. (Guns Up, the official hand symbol of the Red Raiders, seems particularly appropriate for softball so we couldn't resist the reference!)
