Texas Tech scored 52 points in the second half to erase a two-point halftime deficit. Jarrius Jackson led all scorers with 27 points. In addition to Jackson, the Red Raiders had two players in double-figures with Martin Zeno scoring 19 points and Charlie Burgess adding 13 points.
For each game this season, Steve Dale will call the courtside action along with Ted Chidester as analyst on the Texas Tech Sports Network (KKAM 1340 AM), the flagship station for the Red Raiders.
The 2006-2007 Red Raiders feature eight new players and ten returnees on their 18-man roster this season. There are five seniors (Darryl Dora, Jarrius Jackson, Tanner Ogden, Jon Plefka, and LucQuente White), four juniors (Charlie Burgess, Tyler Hoffmeister, Esmir Rizvic, and Martin Zeno), seven sophomores (Trevor Cook, Rogdrick Craig, Jay Mitchell, Michael Prince, Damir Suljagic, Benny Valentine, and Alan Voskuil), and two freshmen (Decensae White and Justin Wilkerson).
As the Red Raiders approach a new season, Bob Knight has 870 career wins and is poised to pass Adolph Rupp (876) and Dean Smith (879) to become the all-time career wins leader. As a testament to his dedication as a teacher and his love of the game, coupled with an intense work ethic, Bob Knight has averaged nearly 22 wins with less than 9 losses each season for 40 seasons while graduating 98 percent of his players - and he is doing what a legendary coach does: preparing his next group of student-athletes for the upcoming season.
