LUBBOCK, Texas - - Texas Tech women's soccer fell to Colorado, 3-0, on Friday afternoon in Boulder, Colo. Tech will travel to Lawrence, Kan., on Sun., Oct. 22, to face Kansas at 1 p.m.
In Friday's match, the Buffaloes were able to take an early lead with goals in the 18th and 23rd minutes of the match on tallies by Jess Quador and Nikki Marshall.
Colorado was able to add a third goal prior to halftime as Katie Griffin fired a shot at the 28:58 minute.
Freshman Brittney Harrison led Tech with two shots and one of them being a shot on goal. Goalkeeper Colleen Pitts came in to relieve Tina Rincon and was able to collect two saves in 22 minutes of playing time.
In the second period, neither team could get their offense going. The match ended giving Colorado the 3-0 advantage.
"We played very poorly and got what we deserved," said head coach Neil McGuire. "We were soundly beaten in every area by Colorado, especially in effort, which is sad. In a game where we were playing for our conference tournament lives we were suprisingly flat and disinterested and let in goals we are capable of defending. Now we need to see how other results fall in the conference to determine if we can still compete for the 8th spot in the tournament."
Tech falls to 6-10-2 overall and 1-6-1 in conference action with the loss. Colorado improves to 9-52 overall and 2-41 in Big 12.
This weekend is the last road trip for the Red Raiders this season. The Red Raiders will return to R.P. Fuller Stadium for their last match of the season as they host the Baylor Bears on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
