The Sooners concluded the match with 13 total saves. Oklahoma improves to 6-8-1 overall and 3-4-1 in conference action.
"Our girls played extremely well tonight and were beaten by an incredible goal from a free kick," said head coach Neil McGuire. "We outshot Oklahoma 20 to 13, with us having 13 shots on goal to their four. We also hit the cross bar three times. It is of course a tough loss but the players should feel good about their overall performance and be confident knowing they are capable of winning games like these with these kind of stats. I must credit Oklahoma for winning. I have great respect for Randy Evans and their team is never easy to play against."
The Red Raiders (6-9-1; 1-5-0) will host Big 12 rival No. 12 Oklahoma State on Sunday at R.P. Fuller Stadium. The match is set for 1 p.m. The Cowgirls are 12-2-1 overall and 7-1 in conference action after they defeated Baylor, 3-1, on Friday night.
Sunday is Mascot Day and area mascots have been invited to entertain the crowd during pre-game and half time. The mascots will be passing out promotional material when fans enter the stadium.
The Red Raiders will hit the road for their last road trip on Oct. 20 as they face Colorado in Boulder, Co., at 7 p.m. On Oct. 22 Tech will travel to Lawrence, Kan., to face Kansas at 1 p.m. The Red Raiders will return to R.P.
