
Innerebner and Szumanski Named to District VI All-Academic Team

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's tennis student-athletes Michael Innerebner and Bojan Szumanski were both named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA District VI All-Academic At-Large team (university division) for their contributions in the classroom.
Texas Tech was one of three schools to place two student-athletes on the 10-man team, which was voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) and those on the team will go on to represent the district on the national ballot. In order to be nominated for Academic All-District and All-America honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve, must have a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and must have completed at least one full academic year at his institution.
District VI encompasses universities from the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
Innerebner, a senior from Bolzano, Italy, boosts a 3.934 grade-point average (GPA) in finance, while the sophomore Szumanski, who hails from Opole, Poland, has a 4.000 GPA in personal financial planning.
Innerebner finished the year with a 27-8 record in singles and 13-15 in doubles. His 27 wins in singles ranks first on the Tech single-season list for victories.
Szumanski was 26-9 in singles play and was 17-11 in doubles action. His 26 victories is tied for second on Tech's single-season list for victories.
Both student-athletes helped lead the Red Raiders to their first appearance in the round of 16 at the NCAA Championship this year and a school-best record of 25-4.
