LUBBOCK, Texas - Looking to end the season on a high note, the Texas Tech women's soccer team will close out the 2005 season this weekend with a pair of home matches at R.P. Fuller Stadium. The Red Raiders will welcome the Colorado Buffaloes to town on Friday night with a 7 p.m. match-up before hosting Nebraska on Sunday at noon.
Friday's match will be Senior Night and Texas Tech soccer will honor this season's senior class -- Kimmie Davis, Megan Knauss, Beth Lippert and Karen Stephens.
Stephens was an offensive force last weekend as she tallied her first goal of the season against Baylor. After the Red Raiders were able to force a second half corner kick, Davis sent a ball toward the Bears net that was headed in by Stephens. During the match, both senior goalkeepers, Knauss and Lippert, combined to make 11 saves.
Friday's opponent, the Colorado Buffaloes, enter the weekend with a 9-6-3 overall record this season and a 5-3-1 conference mark this season. In their last match the Buffs could not get their offense rolling and ended with a scoreless tie at Baylor on Sunday.
The Nebraska match was originally scheduled for Sept. 25, but the date of the contest was forced to be changed due to travel complications caused by Hurricane Rita. The `Huskers enter the weekend still in the race for the Big 12 regular season crown with a 5-2-1 Big 12 record and an 11-5-1 overall mark.
