
Men's Tennis Concludes Day One

After receiving a bye in the first round, Szumanski topped Anthony Portois of UTSA, 6-0, 6-2. Adrian Prpic, who also received a bye, edged Alex Skrypko of SMU, 7-5, 6-4. Dimitrio Martinez fell to Filip Zivojinovic of Rice, 6-4, 6-2, after receiving a bye in the opening round.
Also, in the first round of play, Christian Rojmar topped Craig Stopa of TCU, 6-4, 6-2. He then fell to Roger Gubser of Texas, 7-5, 6-3. Michael Breler fell to Rodrigo Gabriel of Rice, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, in the opening round. Jay Wofford fell to Jason Mok of Rice, 6-2, 6-2. Teddy DiBlasi edged Frank Suarez of Texas Southern, 6-4, 7-6, then fell to Travis Helgeson of Texas, 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles action, DiBlasi and Rojmar beat Bost and Steil of UTPA, 8-4. They fell to Zgaga and Reckewey of Baylor, 9-8. Szumanski and Prpic topped Hyman and Barton of Tulane, 8-3, and then fell to Oredsson and Murgier of SMU, 8-6. Martinez and Breler, received a bye in the first round and then topped Godoy and Herrera of Prairie View A&M, 8-6.
