Texas Tech Soccer Falls Short to UTEP, 3-2

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team was defeated by the University of Texas at El Paso, 3-2, this evening. The Red Raiders scored two goals during the upset, matching last year's season goal total of 14.
Freshman Whitney Almand scored the first Red Raider goal on a Jennifer Thomas assist. This was Almand's first collegiate goal and Thomas' fourth assist on the season.
Freshman Priscilla Esquivel scored her sixth goal of the season and Tech's second goal of the match. Esquivel is currently leading the Red Raiders in goals scored with six and points tallied with 12.
Junior goalkeeper Beth Lippert got the start for the Red Raiders, playing all 90 minutes. Lippert made four saves during the match and improved her save season total to 19.
Texas Tech women's soccer will face Weber State, Sun., Sept. 19, at 12 p.m., on the campus of UTEP. Tickets for the 2004 season are available by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 742-TECH (8324) or (888) GO-BIG-12.
