LUBBOCK, Texas - Pre-ordering for bowl tickets for Texas Tech Football's 28th post-season appearance will continue through 5 p.m. Fri., Dec. 3. The 20th-ranked Red Raiders finished the regular season with a 7-4 overall record and 5-3 mark in Big 12 play.
In addition to finishing the regular season with a ranking for the first time since 1989, the Red Raiders finished in a third-place tie in the overall Big 12 Conference standings, Tech's highest finish in the league's nine-year history. Additionally, the Red Raiders set an attendance record for the third time under head coach Mike Leach.
"We are on the heels of a record-setting season for attendance, and we don't want to stop there," Tech Director of Athletics Gerald Myers said. "We also want to set a bowl attendance record. I would like to encourage all of our fans who have been so supportive and faithful throughout the season to step up once more and support the Red Raiders at the bowl game.
"It is important that Tech fans continue to buy their bowl game tickets through the Tech ticket office, so we can show bowl representatives the tremendous support given to our team by our great fans," Myers added.
Although which bowl Texas Tech will appear is yet to be determined, the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office has been accepting order forms. The forms, under "Bowl Central" on www.texastech.com front page, can be printed and faxed or mailed to the ticket office. Each bowl is listed with ticket prices and a space for number of tickets. Fans will be billed only for the bowl in which Tech is selected and not until that time. A non-refundable $8 handling fee accompanies all orders.
Beginning Mon., Dec. 6, phone orders (888-GO-BIG-12 or 742-TECH) and on-line orders will be accepted. Bowl tickets will not be available through area Select-a-Seat and United Supermarket locations.
Bowl orders through Wed., Dec. 8, will be filled on a priority basis - Red Raider Club members, season ticket holders, then the general public. Ticket locations will be determined by the ticket allotment given to Texas Tech from the bowl.
The order of this year's bowl selection process behind the Fiesta Bowl is Cotton, Holiday, Alamo, Independence, Houston, Champs Sports and Fort Worth.
