
Tech Soccer Falls Short to Oklahoma State, 4-2

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team was defeated by Oklahoma State, 4-2, at R.P. Fuller Stadium this evening. The Red Raiders tallied two goals from two different players and three shots on goal.
The Red Raiders battled aggressively against the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State. There was a total of 27 fouls and three yellow cards issued during the match.
Freshman Ashley Reed scored her second goal of the season in the first minute of play, breaking a 270-minute scoring draught. Reed received the pass in front of the net from freshman forward Jenifer Thomas. This was the Red Raider first goal since the double overtime loss to Texas, 3-2. Reed now has four points on the season.
Thomas then put the Red Raiders on top of the Cowgirls, 2-1, with her third goal of the season, coming at the six-minute mark. Thomas scored by out-running two Oklahoma State defenders and battling one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
The Oklahoma State offense took over from there as they scored three unanswered goals in the last 55 minutes of play. Jolene Schweitzer of Oklahoma had two goals during the contest and Adriane Radtke scored the eventual game-winner.
Junior Beth Lippert started in goal for Tech. She made nine saves as she allowed four goals. Her season save total is now at 35 and her record dropped to 2-3.
The Red Raider soccer team will participate in Homecoming Festivities by hosting an autograph session at Raider Alley before tomorrow's football game against Nebraska. The team will be on-hand signing autographs beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Tech soccer returns to the pitch Sun., Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. to battle Oklahoma, as they host Family Day at R.P. Fuller Stadium. Tickets for the 2004 season are available by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 742-TECH (8324) or (888) GO-BIG-12.
