
Men's Golf Kicks Off Season

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team will kick off its 2003 season with an appearance at the 48th Annual William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M. tomorrow and Saturday. The team finished fifth of 18 last year at The "Tucker" where Brooks Kelly was Tech's top finisher in a 14th place tie.
The team finished fifth in the Big 12 last season, finishing in the top ten, seven times. The team's sole win of the season came at the UTSA Invitational with Andrew Dresser placing in a second place tie. The squad will see ten returning players and four new additions including Sweden's Oscar Floren who joins the team as a nationally ranked player.
The field is composed of 20 teams including five teams ranked in the top 25. Tech enters the tournament ranked 60th. Play will begin tomorrow on the par-72 UNM Championship with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and conclude on Saturday with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.
