
Hull Among NCAA Central Regionals Top 20

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior Mark Hull (San Antonio, Texas/Churchill) is among 10 players in a 20th-place tie after shooting a 2-under 70 in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Central Regional at Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan, Kan.
Hull finished the front nine at 1-over par, but posted three birdies on the back to climb back into the top 20. Senior Brooks Kelly (Sierra Vista, Ariz./Buena) is tied in 58th place with a 1-over 73, while freshman Andrew Dresser (Carrollton, Texas/Creekview) shot a 4-over 76 and is tied in 111th place. Junior Brad Jacobson (Bryant, S.D./Hamlin) and freshman Erik Stenman (Tampere, Finland) are tied in 122nd and 134th places, respectively.
North Carolina State's Jason Moon shot 6-under to lead the field with a 66 and is followed by four golfers tied in second place at 5-under. The University of Illinois leads the event by two strokes over SMU and five strokes over Kentucky. North Carolina and N.C. State are tied in fourth place, followed by Oklahoma State, North Texas, Texas and Lamar all tied in sixth. Arkansas is in 10th place.
The tournament resumes Friday morning with the second round, while the third and final round will begin Saturday. The top 10 teams from the three regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships at the end of the month in Stillwater, Okla.
