LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team will travel to Kansas City, Mo. to play in the Big 12 Tournament April 24-27. The No. 57 Red Raiders are set to play No. 10 Texas A&M on Friday 25 at 11:30 a.m.
"We still do not have Devin, due to his sickness," said head coach Tim Siegel. "So we are disappointed not to have him. I think it shows how tough our conference is when the No. 4 team in conference is No. 10 in the nation. We are looking forward to the match. Our guys have done a good job all year playing hard and facing challenge and adversity."
Previous for the Aggies, they went into their Texas match with a record of 16-0 at home. They suffered their first loss at home with a 4-3 loss to the No. 16 Longhorns and are now 20-8 in overall play and 4-3 in Big 12 play. The last meeting for Tech and A&M came earlier this season at College Station where the Aggies won 7-0.
The Red Raiders are going into this tournament as the No. 5 seed and Texas A&M will be the No. 4 seed. The winner of this match will advance to play the winner of No. 1 seed Baylor and No. 8 seed Nebraska on Saturday 26.
Texas Tech finishes with a record of 13-7 for the season and 3-4 in Big 12 play. This placed the Red Raiders 5th in conference.
