
Men's Tennis Defeats Lamar 6-0

HOUSTON, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team improved its record to 1-1 on the year after defeating Lamar, 6-0, in Houston today. The Red Raiders rebounded after falling to No. 32 Rice, 4-3, yesterday in Houston.
The Red Raiders swept all six singles matches to claim the victory. Freshman Diederik de Groot won his first match of the year by defeating Naeem Kath, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 1 singles. At the No. 2 spot, senior Alfonso Perez beat Nebjosa Murisic, 6-1, 6-0, while sophomore Esat Tanik beat Juan Pablo Alatorre, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 3 singles. Senior Devin Wakeford was victorious over John Guerrero at the No. 4 position, 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore Michael Innerebner won No. 5 singles by defeating Christian Oliver, 6-3, 6-2. And senior John Walker triumphed over Thatcher Cribbs, 6-1, 6-2.
Next up for Tech will be Abilene Christian, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. in Lubbock at the McLeod Tennis Center.
