
Robertson Named Big 12 Rookie of the Week

DALLAS - Texas Tech's Alesha Robertson was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week and Texas' Heather Schreiber was selected Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games from Dec. 15-21, the conference office announced Monday.
Players are nominated by each school's sports information office and voted on by a panel of media who cover Big 12 women's basketball.
Robertson, a 6-0 freshman guard, averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds last week in helping Texas Tech to wins over two Top 25 teams, at No. 24 Washington and at home vs. No. 7 Stanford. She made her first collegiate start in the Stanford game and recorded career-highs of 18 points, six rebounds and three steals. The 18 points were also a game-high. At Washington, Robertson came off the bench to chip in nine points and three rebounds. The Plainview, Texas, native is currently second on the team in scoring with a 10.4 average.
Schreiber, a 6-2 junior forward, led Texas to wins over UT-Pan American and No. 10/9 Georgia last week. She had a game- and season-high 25 points in the UGA win, including hitting nine of her final 14 shots while adding nine rebounds. Against UTPA, Schreiber had 17 points, three rebounds, and four steals in just 19 minutes of play. For the week, the Windthorst, Texas, native averaged 21 points, hit 58 percent of her shots, was 5-of-7 in three-pointers, had 12 rebounds and four assists.
