
Men's Tennis to Open Fall Season

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team will officially start its fall season by competing in the New Mexico State Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M., Sept. 20-22. The tournament consists of three teams, New Mexico, New Mexico State and Tech.
Head coach Tim Siegel returns six letterwinners from last season and welcomes three newcomers to this year's squad. The Red Raiders are led by seniors Alfonso Perez (Guadalajera, Mexico) and Devin Wakeford (Cape Town, South Africa). Perez finished last spring with a 14-5 singles record, while Wakeford was 8-7 in singles action.
The tournament consists of one draw with each player guaranteed three singles matches and three doubles matches. Play will begin on Friday, Sept. 20 and conclude on Sunday the 22nd.
Tech will be in action again at the Baylor Intercollegiates in Waco, Texas, Sept. 27-29.
