COLUMBUS, Ohio - Texas Tech bounced back from a 7-over par front nine and shot four under on the back to recover and finish the day at 287, one stroke better than day one. The Red Raiders, however, dropped to a 19th place tie with Auburn for the tournament.
Sophomore Brad Jacobson and junior Brooks Kelly both shot 3-under on the back nine after the team opened with a disastrous front. Jacobson led the Red Raiders in the second round with a 1-under par 70, while Kelly finished at 2-over par (73).
Senior David Bolen and junior Mark Hull each turned in rounds of 72 and stand tied at 53rd and 96th, respectively. Senior Kyle Willmann posted a 7-over 78 and is in a 138th-place tie.
Clemson and Georgia Tech, who tied for first at the NCAA East Regional, are tied for first following two rounds. UAB's Graeme McDowell, the nation's top-ranked player, was in Bolen's group Thursday. McDowell is currently in a tie for fourth place. Washington's Brock McKenzie broke a first-place tie yesterday and is 7-under to lead the tournament.
The Red Raiders will continue in the third round Friday afternoon.
