
Men's Tennis downs Huskers, 6-1

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team bounced back after a heartbreaking loss to Texas A&M on Friday to defeat the Nebraska Cornhuskers 6-1 this afternoon at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Red Raiders (11-8, 2-3 Big 12) swept the three doubles matches to win the point and take an early lead in the match. At the number one spot, Richard Crabtree (Hebden Bridge, England) and Ben Gudzelak (Halifax, England) defeated Nebraska's Jacek Wolicki and Joel Reckewey, 8-3. Senior Royce Ramey (Richardson, Texas) and sophomore Devin Wakeford (Cape Town, South Africa) also posted an impressive win in doubles play taking the second doubles match 8-2. The duo of Michael Innerebner (Milan, Italy) and Alfonso Perez (Guadalajara, Mexico) took a tightly contested match at the third doubles slot, 9-7.
Nebraska (7-9, 1-4 Big 12) managed one win off the Red Raiders in singles play, taking the number four match. Ramey and Gudzelak continued their hot play at the first and second slots. Ramey defeated Nebraska's Lance Mills, 6-2, 6-0. At the number two position, Gudzelak won a 6-2, 6-0 decision from Jacek Wolicki.
Tech will return to the McLeod Tennis Center on April 12 as it takes on the Rice Owls at 1 p.m.
