Women's Tennis Lose Heartbreaker To Oklahoma State

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team faced Big 12 conference opponent Oklahoma State at the McLeod Tennis Center, today, losing to the 42nd-ranked Cowboys, 4-3.
The match was tied, 3-3, when the No. 2 match entered its third set to determine the overall winner. Tech's No. 2 player, Alenka Ovin, eventually fell to 93rd-ranked Linda Faltynkova, 6-4, 7-5, 6-2, giving the win to Oklahoma State.
Tech started today's match by winning the doubles point. The No. 2 tandem of Noel Ruiz and Barbara Schraml picked-up their first conference win of the season by defeating OSU's Gorana Marsic and Ashleigh Dolman, 9-7, and the No. 3 team of Ovin and Kendall Brooks defeated Kate Vasylyeva and Dominika Olszewska, 8-5. Ovin and Brooks extended their winning streak, at the No. 3 position, to six with today's win.
In singles, No. 1 Irina Tereschenko defeated Olszewska, 6-2, 7-6, and No. 6 Brooks defeated OSU's Ines Furtmayr in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-0, winning Tech's two singles points of the day.
The Red Raiders are 9-12 overall and 4-7 in Big 12 play, heading into the Big 12 Tennis Championships next weekend, April 25-28, in College Station, Texas.
